On June 17-18, the 2026 National Low-Carbon Day main publicity event, themed "Green Transition, Together in Action", concluded successfully in Nanning. Jointly hosted by the Ministry of Ecology and Environment and the People's Government of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, the event served as a national-level publicity event on ecological civilization, oriented toward the whole country and connecting ASEAN countries. Two faculty members from the School of Economics' Student Affairs Office, together with 50 youth volunteers, participated throughout the event by providing conference support services. With professionalism, meticulous attention to detail, and warm, thoughtful service, they successfully completed various volunteer assignments, showcasing Guangxi's image as a region committed to green development and openness. Their outstanding performance received unanimous praise from the organizers and participating guests.

Opening of the Conference
The volunteer service covered the entire event from June 15 to 18. Dressed in unified event volunteer uniforms, the volunteers were assigned to three teams-the Transportation Reception Team, Hotel Services Team, and Venue Services Team-providing comprehensive support throughout the event. Some volunteers were stationed at airport and railway station reception points, where they were responsible for receiving and escorting guests, assisting with luggage, and ensuring smooth transportation for both domestic and international participants. Others were assigned to hotels to assist with guest reception, including check-in, sorting and distributing conference materials, and providing accommodation-related consultation services. The remaining volunteers were stationed at the main venue, where they were responsible for venue setup, guest guidance, ceremony coordination, and media liaison, ensuring the smooth operation of on-site activities. During key sessions, including the release of the Progress Report on the Development of the Product Carbon Footprint Management System (2026) and the launch ceremony of the China-ASEAN Young Green Envoys Program - Guangxi 2026, the volunteers worked closely with the event procedures to ensure that all ceremonial activities proceeded smoothly. When responding to inquiries from media representatives and youth delegates from ASEAN countries, the volunteers also shared knowledge of green and low-carbon development based on their academic backgrounds, helping to build a bridge for green exchanges between Chinese and international youth.

Students Working at the Volunteer Service Area
The volunteers' participation in the 2026 National Low-Carbon Day main publicity event fully demonstrated the spirit of volunteerism characterized by "dedication, friendship, mutual assistance, and progress," earning high praise from officials of the Ministry of Ecology and Environment, the People's Government of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, and the event participants. It also reflected the School of Economics' continued commitment to promoting ecological civilization through practical action and to providing young people with opportunities to serve major national events. The volunteers said that participating in this national-level low-carbon publicity event in Nanning, where the University is located, provided them with a valuable opportunity to gain a deeper understanding of China's carbon peaking and carbon neutrality policies and to engage in exchanges on green development with ASEAN. They described the experience as a valuable practical learning opportunity and expressed their commitment to continuing to promote green and low-carbon lifestyles while transforming what they had learned through volunteer service into motivation for their future academic studies.
The successful completion of this volunteer service was a vivid demonstration of the School of Economics students' commitment to putting Xi Jinping Thought on Ecological Civilization into practice. Going forward, the School will continue to build on its distinctive strengths in China-ASEAN economic studies by regularly organizing volunteer activities related to green development and international exchange. It will encourage young students to actively contribute to the green transition and to pool their efforts in support of low-carbon development, contributing the strength of Guangxi University youth to the development of Beautiful Guangxi, Beautiful China, and deeper China-ASEAN cooperation on green development.
