About Us
The Department of Regional and Country Studies—jointly housed in the China–ASEAN School of Economics, the School of Economics, and the China–ASEAN Institute of Financial Cooperation—was established in 2024. As an interdisciplinary field, Regional and Country Studies integrates concepts, methods, and tools from multiple disciplines and domains, fostering knowledge innovation and disciplinary convergence, and providing a timely response to national strategies and contemporary needs.
The Department currently comprises five faculty members: one research fellow, two associate professors, and two assistant professors. It offers a master’s degree in ASEAN Regional and Country Economics and a doctoral degree in China–ASEAN Regional Development. In teaching, its members lead several provincial undergraduate and graduate education-reform projects and have received numerous awards for teaching excellence. In research, they have undertaken a substantial number of national and provincial projects. Since 2012, faculty have secured five national-level grants, including one Major Bidding Project of the National Social Science Fund of China (NSSFC), one Key NSSFC Project, one National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC) award, and two additional NSSFC projects. Over the years, faculty have produced 27 scholarly monographs and more than 200 influential research articles; their policy recommendations have repeatedly been adopted by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Education, the Zhuang Autonomous Region Government, and other State Council ministries and agencies.
