Professor Guanghui Li is a doctoral supervisor and a Junwu Scholar at Guangxi University. He is also the director of the China Border Economy Research Institute at Guangxi University. Additionally, he serves as the chief researcher and doctoral supervisor at the Strategic Research Institute for China Free Trade Zones at the University of International Business and Economics. Previously, he held the position of Deputy Dean at the International Trade and Economic Cooperation Research Institute of the Ministry of Commerce of China.
He is an executive member of the National Pacific Cooperation Committee and a member of the Expert Committee of the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade. He is also the executive president of the Border Economy Research Association of the China Quantitative Economics Society, and serves as a consulting expert for multiple ministries, provinces, and cities. He has been a speaker at the 19th collective study session of the Politburo Standing Committee of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China and enjoys special government allowances from the State Council.
With nearly 30 years of research experience in regional economic cooperation, free trade zones, open economies, and border economies, Prof. Guanghui Li has published over 200 articles in various media outlets including People's Daily, Economic Daily, Ziguangge, and International Trade. He has participated in the writing of 12 books and has been involved in the research and writing of multiple national ministry-related topics. He has led and participated in over 200 projects from international organizations, national ministries, local governments, and enterprises, with over 30 projects receiving provincial and ministerial awards. Notably, his work on "Research on Open Development Policies along the Border" won the Outstanding Research Achievement Award from the National Development and Reform Commission. His contributions to "Strategic Thinking on China's Economic and Trade Relations during the 12th Five-Year Plan Period," "Development Strategy of China's Free Trade Zones," and "Research on China's Open Development Strategy along the Border" earned him the first prize of the National Business Achievement Award. He also received presidential instructions for his leadership in the formulation of the "Research on the Development Issues and Countermeasures of Border Cities in China under the Background of the Belt and Road Initiative" (Advisory Report). Since 2017, he has organized the writing of the "China Open Border Development Annual Report" annually and serves as its chief editor.
