    Jointly Drawing a Blueprint for Cooperation of Building a China-Vietnam Community with a Shared Future—— The Delegation from School Visits Vietnam for Exchange

    This year marks the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Vietnam, as well as the China-Vietnam Year of People-to-People Exchanges. From April 10 to 12, in an effort to promote the building of a China-Vietnam community with a shared future and strengthen cooperation with Vietnamese universities, think tanks, and other institutions in areas such as talent cultivation, academic and think tank research, and faculty development, a six-member delegation led by Luo Cheng, Executive Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of the China-ASEAN School of Economics / School of Economics / China-ASEAN Institute of Financial Cooperation at Guangxi University, visited several institutions in Vietnam. The delegation held visits and discussions with the University of Social Sciences and Humanities under Vietnam National University, Hanoi; the Institute for Northeast Asian and Chinese Studies of the Vietnam Academy of Social Sciences; the College of Economics, Law and Government of the University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City; and the Guangxi Enterprise Federation under the China Chamber of Commerce in Vietnam. The visit aimed to explore new chapters of international cooperation, expand opportunities for global exchanges, and contribute to the internationalization of the educational development of the School.

    At the University of Social Sciences and Humanities under Vietnam National University, Hanoi, the delegation met Bui Thanh Nam, Party Secretary, Vinh N.Luong, Director of the International Exchange Office, and Nguyen Ngoc Binh, Dean of the School of Languages. Both sides looked back on the friendly exchanges between the people of China and Vietnam, as well as the century-spanning collaboration in educational missions witnessed at the grand auditorium of Guangxi University. They had an in-depth discussion on new forms of cooperation that can be achieved under the new era context. In terms of jointly cultivating professional and interdisciplinary talents for ASEAN, both sides exchanged views on mutual recognition of credits, teacher exchanges, degree programs, and curriculum design, and discussed the implementation of dual bachelor's degree projects, short-term graduate exchanges, and international graduate programs. Preliminary consensus was reached on conducting research collaborations and faculty visits based on these projects. Both sides agreed that establishing a mechanism for sharing academic information and co-hosting international conferences are crucial for effectively integrating resources, leveraging their respective strengths, and jointly producing high-quality outcomes.

    At the Institute for Northeast Asian and Chinese Studies of the Vietnam Academy of Social Sciences, the delegation held discussions with Director Nguyen Xuan Quang and Dr. Hoang Hui Ying on topics such as research cooperation directions and communication mechanisms for think tanks, and the establishment of a China-Vietnam regional country studies base. Luo Cheng introduced the background, current status, and achievements in ASEAN studies at the China-ASEAN School of Economics in Guangxi University. Nguyen Xuan Quang expressed his willingness to collaborate with the college in various aspects, including mechanism building and cultural exchange, through organizing seminars, co-hosting international conferences, enhancing academic research, and facilitating student and expert visits. Both sides look forward to further tapping into the potential for cooperation, strengthening information sharing and resource integration, deepening joint research in trade, economy, and scientific research, and jointly serving the construction of the China-Vietnam community with a shared future.

    At the College of Economics, Law and Government of the University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City, the Dean Pham Khanh Nam, Deputy Dean Tran Thi Tuan Anh, and other responsible persons had a friendly exchange with the delegation. Both sides provided detailed introductions to the college's teaching, research, and development, explored potential opportunities and possibilities for cooperation. They delved into short-term and long-term student exchanges, joint undergraduate programs in "2+2" or "3+1" formats, establishing joint laboratories and research centers, and mutual faculty participation in international conferences and collaborative academic research. Both sides look forward to maintaining contact after the meeting, promoting the signing of memorandums, and deepening cooperation in talent cultivation, faculty development, and research.

    At the Guangxi Enterprise Federation under the China Chamber of Commerce in Vietnam, the delegation was warmly received by Chairman of the Board of Supervisors Su Rihao and key members. Both sides exchanged views on the industrial layout upgrade of Guangxi enterprises in Vietnam, the challenges faced by Chinese-funded enterprises in Vietnam, and how to leverage Guangxi's geographical advantages to promote deeper integration of cross-border industrial and supply chains between China and Vietnam. Luo Cheng stated that the college will fully use its strengths to provide intellectual support and talent guarantees for Chinese-funded enterprises in Vietnam, promoting healthy and sustainable development. Su Rihao noted that the federation will actively support the college's research activities in Vietnam, assist with student internships and employment, and recruit international students, fully supporting the college in cultivating international talents oriented towards ASEAN.

    The delegation also conducted an on-site field visit of the Lotus Port in Ho Chi Minh, to understand its role as a key bulk and general cargo terminal in Sino-Vietnamese trade logistics. At the same time, they visited AQUA Vietnam, a Haier subsidiary, where they toured the company's smart production line at the refrigerator factory. General Manager Zhang Shoujiang vividly shared the successful localization and brand operation experience of AQUA Vietnam, as part of Haier's global smart manufacturing layout in Vietnam. He discussed with the delegation hot topics such as talent strategies, brand building, localized product development, supply chain management, and corporate culture construction under the backdrop of globalization. This provided the college with innovative ideas for supply-side reform from the perspective of international talent demand, and offered valuable ASEAN practical experience for collaborative education between schools and enterprises.

    This visit not only deepened the friendship between our college and Vietnamese universities, think tanks, important business associations and key enterprises, but also further expanded the international network for cooperation between the School and Vietnam. It broadened our college's thinking on enhancing academic research levels and cultivating versatile talents, adding new vitality to the high-quality international development efforts of our college. It has also injected new momentum into accelerating the construction of world-class disciplines at our college. In the future, the School will continue to uphold the concept of open cooperation, actively build high-quality platforms for ASEAN countries, explore new areas of cooperation, and jointly draw up a blueprint for cooperation, contributing wisdom and strength to the continuous advancement of Sino-Vietnamese friendly relations in higher education.
